How to Empower with Art? Uplift Each Other As We All Are Creative Beings

How to Empower with Art? How to Empower as an Artist? There are many ways in which an artist can empower others with his or her art. We all are artists in one way or another. Use your developed skills in whatever field of activity you are involved. If you are a love one, or a writer, musician, actor, producer, a cook, dancer, teacher, or leader.

Empower with Art

As an artist myself, I have been doing this since I started and then launched my artistic career as “The Empowering Artist” and “Empower with Art” since 2007.

We can be empowered to shape our world in ways imaginable, with whatever creative abilities we develop and possess. It makes us happy to be able to contribute our ‘gifts’ to humanity, and to further evolve as a society.

I will be showing examples of artist’s works of art to illustrate how to empower as an artist or how to empower with art.

Empower as a Performing Artist – Composer, Lyricist, Performer

We can empower as a musical composer and as a lyricist, and as a performer.
Here is a song that empowers and inspires me greatly. It is a performance by Brian Stokes Mitchell from the musical “Man of La Mancha”.

“The Impossible Dream (The Quest)” song composed by Mitch Leigh, with lyrics written by Joe Darion. The song is the most popular song from the 1965 Broadway musical Man of La Mancha and is also featured in the 1972 film of the same name.

To dream the impossible dream
To fight the unbeatable foe
To bear with unbearable sorrow
To run where the brave dare not go

To right the unrightable wrong
To love pure and chaste from afar
To try when your arms are too weary
To reach the unreachable star

This is my quest, to follow that star
No matter how hopeless, no matter how far
To fight for the right, without question or pause
To be willing to march into Hell for a heavenly cause

And I know if I’ll only be true
To this glorious quest
That my heart will lie peaceful and calm
When I’m laid to my rest

And the world will be better for this
That one man scorned and covered with scars
Still strove with his last ounce of courage
To reach the unreachable star!

Empower as a Performing Artist – Songwriter and Singer

To start my day, or to seize the day, I use the song “Seize The Day” written and sung by Carolyn Arends. I produced a music video adding photos and words to her song which I published on YouTube as far back as Jul 30, 2007. It has been viewed over 100,00 times already.

Song – Seize The Day by Carolyn Arends who is a Canadian contemporary Christian musician, songwriter, and author.

I know a girl who was schooled in Manhattan
She reads dusty books and learns phrases in Latin
She is an author, or maybe a poet
A genius, but it’s just this world doesn’t know it
She works on her novel most everyday
If you laugh she will say

Seize the day, seize whatever you can
‘Cause life slips away just like hourglass sand
Seize the day, pray for grace from God’s hand
Then nothing will stand in your way
Seize the day.

Well I know a doctor, a fine young physician
Left his six figure job for a mission position
He’s healing the sick in an African village
He works in the dirt and writes home to the cynics
He says “We work through the night so most everyday
As we watch the sun rise we can say

Seize the day, seize whatever you can
‘Cause life slips away just like hourglass sand
Seize the day, pray for grace from God’s hand
Then nothing will stand in your way
Seize the day.

I know a man who’s been doing some thinking
He’s as bitter and cold as the whiskey he’s drinking
He’s talking ’bout fear, about chances not taken
If you listen to him you can hear his heart breaking
He says “One day you’re a boy and the next day you’re dead
I wish way back when someone had said

Seize the day, seize whatever you can
‘Cause life slips away just like hourglass sand
Seize the day, pray for grace from God’s hand
Then nothing will stand in your way
Seize the day.

Well one thing I’ve noticed wherever I wander
Everyone’s got a dream he can follow or squander
You can do what you will with the days you are given
I’m trying to spend mine on the business of living
So I’m singing my songs off of any old stage
You can laugh if you want, I’ll still say

Seize the day, seize whatever you can
‘Cause life slips away just like hourglass sand
Seize the day, pray for grace from God’s hand
Then nothing will stand in your way
Seize the day.

Empower as a Literary Artist – Essayist and Poet

Ralph Waldo Emerson

Ralph Waldo Emerson (May 25, 1803 – April 27, 1882) was an American essayist, lecturer, philosopher, and poet. He wrote in 1841 one of his most famous essays – “Self-Reliance” – the need for each individual to avoid conformity and follow their own instincts and ideas.

Here is an excerpt of his essay on “Self-Reliance”:
“There is a time in every man’s education when he arrives at the conviction that envy is ignorance; that imitation is suicide; that he must take himself for better, for worse, as his portion; that though the wide universe is full of good, no kernel of nourishing corn can come to him but through his toil bestowed on that plot of ground which is given him to till. The power which resides in him is new in nature, and none but he knows what that is which he can do, nor does he know until he has tried.”

Poem – “Be the Best of Whatever You Are”
by Poet Douglas Malloch (May 5, 1877 – July 2, 1938).
He was an American poet and short-story writer.

If you can’t be a pine on the top of the hill,
Be a scrub in the valley — but be
The best little scrub by the side of the rill;
Be a bush if you can’t be a tree.

If you can’t be a bush be a bit of the grass,
And some highway happier make;
If you can’t be a muskie then just be a bass —
But the liveliest bass in the lake!

We can’t all be captains, we’ve got to be crew,
There’s something for all of us here,
There’s big work to do, and there’s lesser to do,
And the task you must do is the near.

If you can’t be a highway then just be a trail,
If you can’t be the sun be a star;
It isn’t by size that you win or you fail —
Be the best of whatever you are!

Poem – Salutation To The Dawn

Look to this day!
For it is life, the very life of life.
In its brief course
Lie all the verities and realities of your existence:
The bliss of growth
The glory of action
The splendour of achievement.
For yesterday is but a dream
And tomorrow is only a vision,
But today well lived makes yesterday a dream of happiness
And every tomorrow a vision of hope.
Look well, therefore, to this day!
Such is the salutation to the dawn.

William Hutchinson Murray, Scottish mountaineer and writer (18 March 1913 – 19 March 1996) from his 1951 book entitled The Scottish Himalayan Expedition.

“Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness. Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth, the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one’s favour all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamt would have come his way.”

Andrea Bocelli-I Believe with Katherine Jenkins

One day I’ll hear
The laugh of children
In a world where war has been banned.

One day I’ll see
Men of all colours
Sharing words of love and devotion.

Stand up and feel
The Holy Spirit
Find the power of your faith.

Open your heart
To those who need you
In the name of love and devotion.

Yes, I believe.

I believe in the people
Of all nations
To join and to care
For love.

I believe in a world
Where light will guide us
And giving our love
We’ll make heaven on earth.

I believe in the people
Of all nations
To join and to care
For love.

I believe in a world
Where light will guide us
And giving our love
We’ll make heaven on earth.

Yes, I believe.

I believe in the people
Of all nations
To join and to care
For love.

I believe in a world
And giving our love
We’ll make heaven on earth.

I believe.

Bessie Anderson Stanley (born Caroline Elizabeth Anderson, March 25, 1879 – October 2, 1952) was an American writer, the author of the poem Success (What is success? or What Constitutes Success?), which is often incorrectly attributed to Ralph Waldo Emerson or Robert Louis Stevenson.

He achieved success who has lived well, laughed often, and loved much;
Who has enjoyed the trust of pure women, the respect of intelligent men and the love of little children;
Who has filled his niche and accomplished his task;
Who has never lacked appreciation of Earth’s beauty or failed to express it;
Who has left the world better than he found it,
Whether an improved poppy, a perfect poem, or a rescued soul;
Who has always looked for the best in others and given them the best he had;
Whose life was an inspiration;
Whose memory a benediction.”

William Shakespeare

William Shakespeare (26 April 1564 (baptized) – 23 April 1616) was an English poet, playwright, actor and dramatist.

“All the world’s a stage, And all the men and women merely players; They have their exits and their entrances, And one man in his time plays many parts”

Empower as an Artist

Are you illuminating this world with your art?
What role are you playing in this life of yours?
All the world is a stage, and we are the actors.
What mark bearing your name are you leaving for others?
Your efforts, creative abilities, skills and work, says a lot about you and your artistry. It is your legacy.

There are certain people who make the world a better place just by being in it. You are one of those people.
