Parents and Guardians – mothers, fathers, step-parents, play such a huge important role in children’s development. They supply the physical, emotional, social, and intellectual development of a child from infancy. They shoulder the immediate responsibility to nurture and raise their offspring with love and affection, praise and encouragement. Parents want what they believe is best for their children. Children’s positive behaviors are influenced by parenting skills that lead a child into a healthy adult, for a child is dependent on their parents, readying the child for challenges.
Parents influence their children with protective social interactions and by encouraging proper social behaviors, and offer gentle, nurturing guidance. Parents also teach their children by example. Children at a younger age are given the opportunity to become skilled in tasks and they begin to learn responsibility. Child discipline is taught imparting knowledge and skill, and instructed to follow a particular code of conduct, helping the child build a strong foundation. It involves looking after, or monitoring a child’s activities.
Parents and guardians use the experiences they have learned in their own lives. They often sacrifice greatly to provide the necessities of life for their children, often at their own unselfish expense. Truly they are the unsung heroes of our lives. Parenting can be a lifelong process. There are benefits to parenting, for parents in their old age can receive assistance with caring from their children in return.
Other family members like grandparents, uncles, aunts, very older cousins, and even a family friend or adult neighbours play a pivotal role in every child’s development. As the African proverb goes “It take as a village to raise a child”. For the community is about building a supportive social network. The Art of Supreme Empowerment
The art of empowerment is a life long process. It is from birth till death. In the beginning of life, we as babies are dependent on our parents and guardians. And as older adults we depend on ourselves as mature beings. In addition, this mindset of a belief in a Superior Being who created this Universe has helped many a lost soul.
In times of crises, be it personal, family, community or national, like sickness, dying, death, major accidents, trauma, or natural disasters, when man cannot by himself solve a devastating situation, people can turn to an Almighty God for help in such times of trouble.
These are the times in our lives when we are at the mercy of circumstances beyond our control. We are in survival mode or near deaths door when these trials appear on our front step from nowhere. We turn to God when all else fails. As the expression says “If you did not find God, God finds you”.
Some of us turn to God’s Holy or Bible Scripture to find consolation or faith. We seek out these Scripture passages or Verses in the Bible to comfort us, like when we lose a love one.
To continue on after despair, we put our trust in God and hope for His Divine intervention in one way or another despite all the setbacks, tears, and anguish. We need courage to persevere.
Much more we need peace within despite what is happening all around us or even to us. One such scripture verse may be comforting to us “The peace of God, which passes all understanding”.
